Flagstaff Hill Golf Club

Our group was pressured by President and pro shop staff about speed of play however our pace was not the issue as we were waiting for groups in front of us teeing off. Happened 4 x times within the round. When asking groups behind us if they had an issue with our speed they said our pace was fine and they weren't waiting on us. A terrible mood being bullied by members on various occasions. Will not be returning.

Very nice place to chill. All people are so friendly and nice even when they get very busy. If you go there ask for Veronica as she is super friendly and helpful to other people and the staff are professional in what they do. Many times I saw people were rude to them even with the great service that they provide but they always remained professional and courteous.

UPDATE REVIEW 7/7/23 It’s been a very wet few weeks. Flagstaff Hill was in very good condition. The undulating fairways make for excellent drainage. As always the greens were in excellent condition. Taylor was very welcoming in the Proshop. The foundations of the new clubhouse have begun. Exciting times ahead. UPDATE REVIEW 5/5/23 so much is happening at Flagstaff Hill golf course. The old clubhouse has been knocked over and they are rebuilding a new one with penthouses on top. They have dug up the 16th fairway. They have put in new irrigation and reshaped the fairway. The course was in excellent condition. The couch fairways gave us plenty of roll. The greens were in excellent condition. All the bunkers had just been raked. Emma was very welcoming in the temporary pro shop. We had a great day out. Please read my previous reviews. UPDATE REVIEW 10/12/21 Nearly 12 months since our last round. Nothing has changed!!! Fairways, greens and bunkers were in excellent condition. We were reminded of the wonderful bird life, surrounding trees and peacefulness of the setting. Please read my previous review. UPDATE REVIEW 1/1/21 A great way to start the new year!! The course is undulating, challenging and well maintained. The excellent contoured greens are surrounded by strategically placed bunkers and were in great condition. The couch fairways were the best we had seen them in the last couple of years. There was excellent coverage, great roll and the ball sat up beautifully. All fairways are lined with tall gums. Flagstaff is close to Adelaide city down south situated in a very peaceful setting....... almost a country feel. This course can be played all year round. Watch out for the 2 for one specials - good value course. Mark was welcoming in the Pro shop. Be sure to add Flagstaff Hill to your bucket list of golf courses to play in SA. UPDATE REVIEW 3/4/20 A beautiful mild and sunny April day. The greens were in excellent condition. They were fast and true. Great to putt on. The fairways have improved significantly since our last visit in November. There was good coverage of couch and excellent role with the ball. Flagstaff Hill golf course is a very peaceful and tranquil place to play golf………You get the sense of being out in the country. I mentioned in my last visit that I bought “alien pro golf over grips” for six dollars each. They have been excellent. You get very good grip with them...... there is a tacky feel about them. As usual the staff in the pro shop are always very welcoming particularly during this COVID-19 environment. Great to see that they are allowing the public to continue to play. We are very appreciative of this. Looking forward to our next visit. UPDATE REVIEW 15/11/19 A beautiful mild sunny day. The greens and bunkers were in excellent condition. There was excellent roll on the fairways although they were “patchy” - still recovering from last summers very dry conditions. Our weather has been mild and the couch fairways need some good hot days to kickstart summer growth. Staff and members were very welcoming. We had an excellent day out. I bought a couple of “Alien Pros Golf Overgrips” ($6.00ea) and a member happened to be in the pro shop and volunteered to put them on my Driver and 3 Rescue - it took only a couple of minutes. I don’t use a glove and I liked how the grip has a soft “tacky” non slip feel. Given I play golf every day, it will be interesting to see how long the overgrip lasts - I normally have to change my driver grip every 18 months. UPDATE ON ALIEN GRIPS - great value and have lasted well. Just purchased some more.
